I feel so bad for Sieglinde after the last chapter
She found out that the werewolves were fake
That the magic she had spent her whole life believing in wasn’t real
That she had her feet bound for absolutely no reason

why does ciel have earrings tho? does this ever get explained? did he just wake up one day & was like wtf sebastian i wanna have a cool punk aesthetic please pierce my ears so i can be cool
I am pretty sure it has something to do with his stature as an Earl. It’s…
Ah. Well, it just seems weird to me- seeing as its during the Victorian era. And it struck me as the most likely explaination. Because if you were rich you could afford clean needles and it would’nt get infected. I couldn’t find much text on it but it still sounds very weird to me. I thought all jewelry was to display wealth. But there’s no easy way to find text about it so I got my boyfriend to ask his sister who has more knowledge then I do on the topic.
400 years before Victorian time Sir Walter Riley (who colonized america under the rule of Elizabeth the 1st, if i remember correctly..) had earrings? and that’s after the 1300..
I couldn’t get too much info on it though so I tried to go logically about and looked over to Queen Victoria.
Before Ciel’s time, on her wedding day- she wore heavy jewelry including earrings. Now, I highly doubt she would even touch it if it was viewed as “impure” during the time.
And apparently, it was only the ones with extremely high stature. So I’m guessing the most likely thing- because even the rich wanted to distance themselves from “their kind” with for example; earrings. Seeing as not all rich people even bothered to pay the amount of money it cost to obtain pierced ears, it was only people with the absolute highest ranks.
So my guess is that Ciel has pierced ears because his stature is not only valued in money and wealth but also because he owns a major company that works overseas as well as in England, but the most important thing that it probably symbolises is; he is the Queens watchdog. Which is in itself a very big title.
yeah i mean you could make this argument and i know a lot of people agree with you. Either way there isnt a lot of research on it so its hard to say whether or not it was a symbol of wealth among men at that time but its all good! honestly it could have been a combination of this and yana thinking they looked nice on him haha
either way i cant say that his earrings are / that / big of a deal in the grand scheme of things ( so it probably doesnt matter how we explain them bc we probably wont ever get a clear cut reason )
